Colorado officials are thanking firefighters for their quick action after multiple fires threatened nearby homes.

Officials with the county, South Metro Fire Rescue, and Douglas County Sheriff's Office spoke on Monday about the response and ongoing efforts to fully contain the fire that prompted the evacuation of the small town on Sunday.

A fast-moving landspout tore through a Colorado community, ripping building roofs in its path. Several business owners and employees were shaken up by how close they came to possibly being badly injured.

A fast-moving landspout tornado struck more than a half-dozen businesses in Franktown in Douglas County on Monday afternoon, authorities said. The Franktown Fire Department said on social media that seven businesses in a shopping center near the intersection of Colorado 83 and 86 sustained roof damage, but no injuries were reported.
