Khloe Goombi couldn’t hold back the tears as she stood on the court inside State Fair Arena. The sophomore had just helped Cyril girls basketball make program history. For Goombi, that realization was taking some time to actually set in.

Crane’s girls basketball team has done a lot of winning over the past few years. But for the first time, the Mustangs have won back-to-back Class 1A basketball state championships after besting Union 50-32 on Saturday at Baker High School.

In a game that is sure to be talked about for a while, Hamilton outlasted Gilbert in overtime to take home the 6A state championship trophy.
