When bad weather hits Houston, state and local agencies collaborate to decide when to close a road due to dangerous conditions such as ice and flooding

Houston officials are preparing for severe cold weather expected to hit the region Sunday night, with Mayor John Whitmire announcing the activation of warming centers across the city to protect vulnerable residents.

The FOX26 area should be ready for snow and ice this week. The can be fun but the threat of ice on the roads and power lines can be dangerous. The National Weather Service has issued a WINTER STORM WATCH from 6pm Monday through 6pm Tuesday.

The divisional round remains the Houston Texans’ Waterloo. Make it 0-for-6 in the second round of the playoffs for Houston after Saturday’s 23-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium. The Texans remain the only NFL franchise never to win a road playoff game or reach a conference championship game.
