To be clear, Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Wednesday afternoon, there’s no pleasure in this part of the job. The Texas Rangers have sent struggling third baseman Josh Jung to Triple-A Round Rock. They made the move Wednesday when activating first baseman Jake Burger from the 10-day injured list.

This is a performance-based game. The Rangers' front office and coaching staff have said that many times this year. That’s never been more true than on Wednesday, when Rangers’ 2023 All-Star third baseman Josh Jung was optioned to Triple-A Round Rock.
