Netflix shares moved firmly higher in early Wednesday trading, and look set to pass the $1,000 mark for the first time on record, following a blowout set of fourth quarter earnings that cemented its lead as the world's biggest streaming group and triggered a flurry of upgrades from analysts on Wall Street.

The streaming giant gets the latest round of stock price target hikes as experts opine on advertising and live sports upside: "As good as it gets? We don’t think so."

Netflix shares listed in Frankfurt rose 14.3% in early trading on Wednesday after the streaming service said on Tuesday it attracted a record number of subscribers over the holiday quarter. The company said it plans to hike prices in the U.

Netflix announced better-than-expected subscriber numbers, helped by the second series of South Korean drama Squid Game as well as sports including a boxing match between influencer-turned-fighter Jake Paul and former world heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

Netflix announced Tuesday it will raise prices on most of its subscription tiers in the US and Canada after the streaming giant reported 19 million new subscribers in the last quarter of 2024.
