The Senate narrowly approved President Donald Trump's signature second-term policy bill, a nearly 900-page package packed with tax cuts and other campaign promises, in a major legislative victory for the president that came after a tense debate within his party that stretched on for nearly four days.

At some 887 pages, the legislation is a sprawling collection of tax breaks, spending cuts and other Republican priorities, including new money for national defense and deportations.

President Trump met with Speaker Mike Johnson and Senator John Thune, the majority leader, at the White House today as he is pressuring Congress to pass his domestic policy bill by his July 4 deadline, Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said at Monday’s news briefing.
