The match showcased remarkable performances from Salman Agha, who scored an unbeaten century, and Haris Rauf, who claimed four wickets, both pivotal in securing this narrow victory for the home side.
Pakistan had a phenomenal start, with openers Fakhar Zaman and Saim Ayub adding 87 runs. Although the hosts lost Ayub (39), Zaman (45), and Babar Azam (7) in quick succession, Rizwan held his fort. He took Pakistan toward 200 along with Agha. Just before the 200-run mark, Rizwan fell to Corbin Bosch for 55 off 74 balls (6 fours).
With this victory in the first match of the series, the Pakistan Cricket Team take a 1-0 lead over South Africa in the three-match ODI series. The second match of the series will be played at the same venue, Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad, on Thursday, November 6.
