Florida Lt. Gov. Jay Collins is announcing a Sunshine State gubernatorial bid, jumping into the race to succeed outgoing Gov. Ron DeSantis.

Collins, a native of Montana who moved to Tampa in 2019 after leaving the military, was appointed in August, months after former Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nuñez resigned to become President of Florida International University. Collins has been teasing his own run for Governor ever since.
