It's a disappointing result, with Gane getting off to a fantastic start in his third bid to become champion and Aspinall returning fire in his first defense as UFC champion. However, safety comes first for the fighters, though the crowd was not happy and booed Aspinall for not continuing to fight.

In a Tri-Valley Conference Blue showdown to determine first place, Valley Lutheran handed Carrollton its second loss of the season to claim the conference volleyball championship. The Chargers improved to 36-8-3 after a 25-9, 25-14, 25-15 win Wednesday over the Cavaliers, who fell to 27-2-2.

We’ve almost reached bracket season, with field hockey and girls’ volleyball playoff seedings releasing Tuesday, followed by boys’ and girls’ soccer next Saturday and football on Nov. 2.

Alabama vs. South Carolina will be played Saturday, Oct. 25 from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina.
