12 campuses had been previously been considered for closure, but five of those are no longer on the chopping block.

President Neeli Bendapudi has asked the Penn State trustees to approve closing seven commonwealth campuses, which will affect more than 500 employees and thousands of students.

The board of trustees has not yet voted on the plan. The seven campuses currently proposed for closure are Dubois, Fayette, Mont Alto, New Kensington, Shenango, Wilkes-Barre, and York.
