The Thunder were in the Spurs' sneakers just two seasons ago. As Shai Gilgeous-Alexander ascended into a perennial MVP candidate, OKC won 57 games and grabbed the first seed on the final day of the 2023-24 regular season. Eventually, they lost to the Dallas Mavericks in Round 2 of the NBA playoffs.
For the third straight time, San Antonio has toppled the reigning NBA champions, handing OKC three of its five losses in the 2025-26 season.

The Spurs also defeated the Thunder in an NBA Cup semifinal on Dec. 13 and in San Antonio on Tuesday. The teams meet again on Jan. 13 in Oklahoma City.
The Thunder and Spurs represent what most expect to be the defining rivalry of this era of NBA history. Oklahoma City already has a championship to its name along with one of the deepest rosters in NBA history.
