Jai Lucas says Miami has everything needed to compete at the top of the college basketball world. And the Hurricanes have given him the chance to prove it. The soon-to-be former Duke associate head coach was finally announced as the new coach at Miami on Thursday,
Lucas is staying in the ACC and, at 36, will be the youngest high-major coach when he takes over Miami following this weekend
The University of Miami on Thursday officially named Duke associate head coach Jai Lucas its new head men’s basketball coach. Lucas, 36, is known as an elite recruiter who helped bring some of the nation’s top recruits to Duke and, before that, Kentucky.
Jai Lucas isn’t to blame for the situation that makes his final game on the Duke Blue Devils coaching staff Saturday instead of whenever their NCAA tournament run ends. The Miami Hurricanes, who hired Lucas as their next coach, are not to blame. Duke coach Jon Scheyer certainly isn’t to blame. The system is to blame. The situation is a mess.
Duke associate head coach Jai Lucas has reportedly signed a deal to become the Hurricanes’ new head basketball coach once the Blue Devils’ regular season ends.
