San Francisco 49ers quarterbacks coach and quarterback Brock Purdy's mentor, Brian Griese, decided to end his coaching career after three seasons.

While the NFL combine is all about looking at future prospects, San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch spent much of his combine media availability discussing some of the biggest names already on his roster.

San Francisco 49ers GM John Lynch provided an updated on Brock Purdy's contract situation, Christian McCaffrey's health and Deebo Samuel's trade ask.

Purdy made the starting quarterback spot his own. He played 48 games across four seasons and threw 12,170 passing yards and 81 touchdowns. The dual-threat quarterback also gained 1,177 rushing yards and scored 19 touchdowns. Despite those impressive numbers, nobody was prepared to offer Purdy a rookie contract.

George Kittle secured his 6th Pro Bowl selection, with 76 receptions and 8 TDs. He is joined by Kyle Juszczyk, Nick Bosa, and Fred Warner. Other 49ers

Lynch also said that the team has discussed an extension with tight end George Kittle, per Wagoner. Kittle is entering the final season of his contract with a $22MM cap hit. The 49ers have plenty of cap space, so extending Kittle to free up money isn’t an immediate priority, but the team would like to keep him past 2025 — his age-32 season.
