Houston Rockets forward Jabari Smith Jr. will not have surgery on his fractured left hand after all, coach Ime Udoka said Saturday night, a decision that shouldn’t drastically change Smith’s recovery timeframe.

Amen Thompson (left calf tightness) is day to day after sitting out Saturday, while Jabari Smith Jr. (left hand fracture) will avoid surgery.

Smith fractured his left, non-shooting hand at shootaround before the Boston game and it will require surgery, coach Ime Udoka told reporters. How long he will be out will depend upon the surgery. Udoka said Smith would miss 4-6 weeks, but it could be a couple of weeks longer, depending upon the situation.
