Andrea Gibson, a poet, activist and Colorado Laureate who was the subject of documentary film "Come See Me in the Good Light," has died at 49.
"Though Andrea desperately wished to have lived a longer life, they could not have possibly lived a fuller one," Gibson's family said.
Andrea Gibson, acclaimed poet and performance artist, died on July 14 at age 49, following a diagnosis with ovarian cancer. The Poet Laureate of Colorado published seven poetry collections, and was the subject of the 2025 documentary ‘Come See Me in the Good Light.
Andrea Gibson, a celebrated poet and performance artist who through their verse explored gender identity, politics and their 4-year battle with terminal ovarian cancer, died Monday at age 49.
I am more with you than I ever could have imagined,” Gibson says in the poem, written while facing a terminal illness.
