By Chandini Monnappa (Reuters) -British Airways owner IAG on Friday unveiled plans to buy 71 long-haul aircraft from Airbus and Boeing, sharing a major fleet expansion across the Atlantic a day after Britain and the U.

IAG SA announced a major aircraft order for widebody jets, doubling down on a long-haul business that’s powered its earnings and helps the airline group upgrade from older models.

IAG, parent firm of British Airways and Spanish airline Iberia, announced orders for 53 new Boeing ( NYSE: BA) and Airbus ( OTCPK:EADSF) planes for its long-haul fleet, a day after the U.S. reached a new trade deal with the U.K.
