Digest more
Carlos Baleba had missed Brighton’s final pre-season game with injury, but went straight into their starting line-up for their Premier League opener. Baleba played 69 minutes in Brighton’s 1-1 draw with Fulham. They were leading 1-0 before he went off, with Fulham scoring an injury-time equaliser.
Brighton are keen to keep hold of Baleba, who is under contract until 2028 with the option of a further 12 months, and warned United it would take a fee around the £115 million ($156 million) Chelsea paid to sign Moisés Caicedo two years ago to get a deal for Baleba over the line.
