A Myrtle Beach woman was arrested after investigators said her backyard fire spread into a 2,000-acre wildfire, forcing evacuations in Carolina Forest.

After nearly a week of battling a wildfire in Carolina Forest, crews have finally contained just over half of it, state and Myrtle Beach-area officials said.

The South Carolina Forestry Commission said the 40-year-old woman allegedly caused more than 2,000 acres to burn near Myrtle Beach.
