In most other years, an election in a sparsely populated Arctic island would fly largely under the radar. But as voters in Greenland head to the polls on March 11, they’ll be doing so under the shadow of US President Donald Trump wanting to take control of the semi-autonomous territory from Denmark.

President Donald Trump doubled-down on his interest in assuming Greenland, and he isn't the first elected official to suggest doing so.

Greenland’s prime minister says “Greenland is ours” and cannot be taken or bought, in defiance of the claim by President Donald Trump that the United States will acquire the territory “one way or another.
