The banged up New Jersey Devils wasted no time filling an area of need ahead of the NHL trade deadline, while the defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers made an under-the-radar move that could pave the way for another deep playoff run.

The Devils executed several moves at the 2025 NHL trade deadline, including adding forward Cody Glass from the Penguins and defenseman Dennis Cholowski from the Islanders.

The Devils have several needs, notably a center or two — especially if Jack Hughes is out long-term — and a top-six winger. But they don’t have a first-round pick in 2025, their prospect pool is not considered the strongest and they don’t have a lot of cap space, perhaps making an impact trade more of a challenge.

The Chicago Blackhawks made some moves on trade deadline day, but it is also noteworthy to look at the players that the team didn't trade. This includes Ryan Donato and Pat Maroon, both forwards whose names were out there.
