City leaders in San Clemente, California, have announced plans to work with US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) to install surveillance cameras along the city’s coastline in an effort to detect boats attempting to bring unauthorized migrants into the US.

San Clemente city officials are working with border patrol agents to install and monitor cameras along its beach and pier to curb illegal panga landings.

The city of San Clemente could soon be monitored by border patrol cameras after claims that there have been increased panga landings on the shoreline to drop off migrants.

San Clemente city leaders are inviting U.S. Customs and Border Protection to place cameras along the beach city’s coastline. Councilmembers said they want to make sure they have a safe community and have asked the city manager to speak with the agency about installing the cameras to monitor for boats carrying people attempting to enter the country illegally.
