CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. -- NASA has discovered an interstellar comet that's wandered into our backyard. The space agency spotted the quick-moving object with the Atlas telescope in Chile earlier this week, and confirmed it was a comet from another star system.
Earth just got a new tag-along in space — a little asteroid named 2025 PN7. NASA confirmed this week that the rock, discovered by the University of Hawaii, is officially a “quasi-moon” — a rare type of celestial companion that travels almost exactly in sync with Earth.
THAT’s NO MOON - Earth doesn’t just have one moon; sometimes, it has a companion satellite or “mini-moon.” Discovered on August 2 and reported in September, this is not breaking news. Unlike the Moon, which is gravitationally bound to our planet, 2025 PN7 shares an orbit around the Sun that closely mirrors Earth's path.
The spacecraft, bound for a metallic asteroid, turned to snap a striking image of our home planet from 180 million miles away. NASA's Psyche spacecraft, which is headed toward a big and bizarre metal asteroid, has delivered a stunning perspective of our ...
