Presidents Day is a federal holiday celebrated each year in mid-February to honor past U.S. presidents. Locally, it's part of the next big break week - known as Presidents Day break week in some districts, midwinter recess in others or simply as February break week among most students and teachers.

The shift from Washington’s Birthday to Presidents' Day began in the late 1960s, when Congress proposed the Uniform Monday Holiday Act.
