The Milwaukee Brewers set a single-season franchise record with their 14th straight victory Saturday. And, in keeping with recent form, it wasn’t easy.

CINCINNATI — The Reds are hoping to beat the Brewers on Sunday and avoid being swept by their division rivals. Cincinnati made a flurry of roster moves ahead of the game. They recalled Will Benson and Connor Phillips from Triple-A. They also optioned Joe La Sorsa to Louisville and Jake Fraley was designated for assignment.
The Chicago Cubs once had a strong lead in the National League Central. However, the Milwaukee Brewers entered Sunday with a nine-game lead.
And yet, oddsmakers still aren’t quite sold on the Brew Crew being the best team in the league. Despite this unbelievable run, Milwaukee still has the third-best odds (+400, FanDuel Sportsbook) of winning the National League pennant behind the Dodgers (+210) and Phillies (+380).
They won 11 games in a row after that July 5 loss, but that isn't even their longest winning streak since that date. The Brewers, thanks to a 13-game winning streak they extended Friday night in a comeback win over the Reds,
The Brewers’ roster is littered with speed and defense. Brice Turang, Sal Frelick, Jackson Chourio, Collins, Blake Perkins, Caleb Durbin, and Joey Ortiz all fit this bill. Out of that group, all but Ortiz has been above average offensively this season.
Hall had consistently been able to provide the team quality long relief innings in low-leverage spots, eating up innings for other arms in the bullpen. The 26-year-old had been enjoying his best year yet in his fourth season in the big leagues, posting a 3.35 ERA and striking out 27 batters in 19 appearances.
