The Florida Department of Transportation, Florida Highway Patrol launched Operation Southern Slow Down to address reckless driving on Monday, July 14.
According to a study, more than 13,000 crashes in 2022 in Florida involved driving too fast, speeding contributed to 10.5% of fatal crashes and resulted in over 350 fatalities.
Operation Southern Slow Down is a joint effort with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the southeastern states of Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
