DALLAS (AP) — Golden State's Moses Moody dribbled all alone on his way to what looked to be an easy basket after stealing the ball from Dallas rookie standout Cooper Flagg yet again. Instead, Moody's left leg buckled and he crumpled to the court with an apparently serious left knee injury that left players and coaches from both teams stunned along with fans late in overtime of what had been an intense game.
Moses Moody’s triumphant return to the Warriors ended with the guard being taken off the court on a stretcher after he suffered what appeared to be a major knee injury in Golden State’s 137-131 overtime win over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night at American Airlines Arena.
Golden State coach Steve Kerr says Stephen Curry will be available for the play-in tournament if his ailing right knee allows.
Inside the last two minutes of overtime, Moody swiped the ball away from Mavericks’ forward Cooper Flagg and raced toward the basket at the other end of the court. During his shooting takeoff, Moody’s left leg suddenly gave out and he landed awkwardly on the ground.
Kyrie Irving has maintained a steady presence around the Mavericks despite not playing this season because of his torn left ACL, but his team has missed his offensive production, especially in late-game situations.
Moody was going up for an uncontested breakaway dunk when his knee gave way.
