This photograph is from the last series of images taken of President Lincoln, previously thought to have been taken on April 10, 1865, just four days before his assassination at Ford's Theater. Subsequent research has discovered the more likely date of creation to have been February.

This last photo in Lincoln's last photo session from life was long thought to have been made on April 10, 1865, but more recent research has indicated the earlier date in February. Image shows crack in original negative, which was broken and discarded back in 1865.
