👏 Good news! The 3rd and Gaines Streets intersection reopens at the end of the day, November 7. This marks the completion of the major 3rd Street Resurfacing and Partial Conversion Project – which included road resurfacing from Telegraph Road to Harrison Street, and the conversion of 3rd Street to two-way travel between Marquette and River Drive. MISSISSIPPI HOTEL — Davenport, Iowa, 1931. Restoration Time New Neon One of downtown’s last great Art Deco hotels. She opened her doors on November 24th, 1931 with 200 rooms, 50 apartments, and a movie palace attached — the old RKO Orpheum, now the Adler Theatre. She saw the Depression… the riverboats… big-band nights… and the slow fade of the downtown hotel era. By the early ’80s the hotel closed, but the building survived — reborn as the Mississippi Lofts, with the theatre still lighting up th
