Dr Catherine Hamlin knew that in order to treat fistula sufferers in very remote areas of Ethiopia, more hospitals needed to be established. From 2003 - 2010, five Hamlin regional fistula hospitals were strategically set up across the country. Hamlin’s Bahir Dar Fistula Hospital is approximately 540km north-west of Addis Ababa.
