The North Pacific Ocean contains an accumulation of marine garbage known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. The North Pacific Subtropical Gyre divides the garbage patch, also referred to as the Pacific trash vortex, into two separate areas of waste. The North Pacific Subtropical Convergence Zone, which is situated a few hundred kilometers north of Hawaii, connects these regions of whirling debris.
