NASA has increased the probability of asteroid 2024 YR4 hitting Earth on December 22, 2032, to 3.1%, up from 2.6% last week. The 177-foot-wide asteroid, traveling at 40,000 mph, could release energy 500 times stronger than the Hiroshima bomb, potentially destroying an entire city. Major cities at risk include Mumbai, Kolkata, Dhaka, Bogotá, Abidjan, Lagos, and Khartoum. Scientists are closely monitoring its trajectory, with the James Webb Space Telescope set to refine predictions in March 2025.
