The SynthAxe 1985, incredibly rare, allegedly only 100 were made. English designer Bill Aitkin, came up with the SynthAxe concept in the late 1970s long before MIDI. The Synthaxe can be used to control any MIDI compatible synthesizer. The idea wasn't to build a new kind of guitar, but to come up with an entirely new type of instrument altogether.
